Founding AI Engineer - Claims Pricing Intelligence (Remote)
We're seeking a Founding AI Engineer to design and implement intelligent systems that transform raw healthcare data into production-ready pricing engines. You'll build the business logic layer that accurately prices healthcare claims, combining rules-based systems with ML validation to ensure compliance and precision. This is a rare opportunity to shape the architecture and product of a high-impact, AI-driven platform from the ground up.
What You'll Do
Data Ingestion & Structuring
Design parsers and pipelines for inconsistent, semi-structured, and evolving data sources (CSVs, PDFs, spreadsheets, APIs)
Build normalization layers to reconcile multiple datasets into unified, queryable schemas
Use LLMs and NLP to extract structured meaning from unstructured documentation
Knowledge & Rules Modeling
Model relationships between entities, rules, and variables driving pricing logic
Build systems that reason over temporal changes (effective dates, versioned updates)
Create crosswalks and mappings for otherwise siloed datasets
Pricing Engine Development
Design the business logic layer to determine pricing outcomes via configurable rules and algorithms
Combine deterministic logic with ML-based validation for accuracy and adaptability
Ensure every decision is explainable and traceable
Machine Learning & Validation
Build ML models to detect anomalies, outliers, and inconsistencies in pricing data
Develop feedback loops to learn from historical behavior and external benchmarks
Apply semantic reasoning to interpret documentation and codify logic
API & System Design
Expose pricing services through performant, production-ready APIs
Build both batch and real-time systems for large-scale repricing and validation
Implement observability, caching, and auditability as core architecture principles
Testing & Quality Assurance
Develop test suites and regression frameworks to ensure consistency
Validate outputs against benchmarks for precision and reliability
Automate documentation and traceability for compliance
What You Bring
Strong experience in Python, SQL, and data modeling (relational or graph)
Proven ability to convert messy inputs into structured, reliable outputs
Familiarity with rules engines, workflow automation, or ML validation systems
Experience building APIs (FastAPI, Flask, or similar)
Deep curiosity about complex systems and a drive to simplify them
Rigor in testing, documentation, and version control
Nice to Have
Experience with large-scale revenue cycle, financial, pricing, or policy systems
Familiarity with LLMs or NLP-based document extraction
Understanding of data lineage, auditability, and compliance-heavy environments
Experience with high-performance data services (event-driven, streaming, or caching)
Exposure to modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, scikit-learn)
