Data Center Technician - Milwaukee, WI
We have an immediate long-term opportunity with one of our prime clients for a position of Data Center Technician to work at Milwaukee, WI.
We are seeking a Smart Hands Network & Telecom Technician to provide on-site support for data center and telecom infrastructure. This role works closely with remote engineering teams to perform hands-on tasks, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and physical hardware support.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, rack, stack, and replace servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and telecom equipment.
- Perform cabling tasks: fiber/copper installation, tracing, labeling, testing, and cleanup.
- Troubleshoot physical connectivity issues, perform power cycles, and assist with hardware diagnostics.
- Support telecom systems (analog, ISDN, SIP) including installation and relocation of devices.
- Coordinate with remote NOC/engineering teams for configuration tasks and incident resolution.
- Conduct asset audits, maintain inventory records, and update documentation.
- Follow safety procedures, comply with change management, and respond to on-site emergencies or after-hours calls.
Qualifications
- 2 5+ years' experience in data center, network, telecom, or field support roles.
- Knowledge of OSI Layer 1 3, TCP/IP, and basic network/telecom concepts.
- Hands-on experience with cabling, hardware installation, and using diagnostic tools.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or CCNA are a plus.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and travel to client sites.
