Position: Lab Automation Specialist (Contract)
Location: South San Francisco, CA
Pay Range: $32.21 to $51.31
Overview In this contract role, you ll partner with automation engineers, scientists, and vendors to design, implement, and maintain cutting-edge automated systems that streamline research workflows. Key Responsibilities Identify and develop opportunities to automate manual laboratory processes. Program, test, and optimize protocols for integrated systems and standalone liquid handlers (e.g., Tecan, Hamilton). Troubleshoot hardware, software, and protocol issues alongside scientists and engineers. Manage vendor relationships to ensure peak system performance. Maintain clear documentation, including user guides, training materials, and internal web content. Train end users on automation systems for effective adoption. Perform proactive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability. Qualifications B.S./B.A. in biology, chemistry, or related field. 1-3 years of relevant industry experience, ideally in drug discovery or sample management. Hands-on experience with lab automation systems and liquid handlers. Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and workflows. Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, VBScript, or similar) a plus. Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
MindSource is looking for a Lab Automation Specialist, where you ll work at the intersection of automation, biology, and informatics to accelerate the discovery of therapeutic molecules. Our client is in South San Francisco. This is a 12-month, on-site contract position with possibility of extension.
