Prototype Controls Engineer

This posting is for a 2nd shift position, required to do is as follows. Weekend work required as necessary based on job priorities and timing.

Within our plants around the world, were constantly developing new technologies and processes to further improve our efficiency. That means we're constantly seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture vehicles.

What you'll do...
  • Ensure all equipment follows Ford Controls Standard Specifications
  • New and retooled machinery
  • Assist with troubleshooting of machinery when downtime occurs
  • Lead if controls/electrical issue
  • Support, if necessary, when not controls/electrical issue



You'll have...
  • Electrical Engineering Degree or applicable experience
  • Machining background a plus
  • Ability to work with UAW maintenance, Vendors and other Process Team Members when required.
  • Communication skills; verbal, email, etc.
  • Ford Microsoft Suite familiarity (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiar with UL508A requirements and NFPA79
  • Familiar with Pro-tag and Midas check sheets
  • Siemens Step 7 programming and troubleshooting
  • Siemens power line and solution line configuration and programming
  • Fanuc controls troubleshooting
  • Beckhoff controls troubleshooting.
  • Familiar with CPN/MPN design and configuration
  • Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Lubrication, and Coolant design & functionality
  • Laser operation and Laser safety
  • Programmable safety design and operation
  • CNC design and operation
  • Risk Assessment process
  • Ford RFID tag map and controls (Beckhoff and Siemens)
  • All controls systems lifecycle (obsolescence)
  • ECPL and Access task process and design
  • Allen Bradley RS Logix, Control Logix, and Micro Logix (EMDO)
  • Haas CNC controls
  • Mazak CNC controls
