DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
The Network Analyst is part of the Information Management Services Division (IMSD), which is
responsible for all aspects of technology in Milwaukee County. The Network Analyst assists in
designing, implementing, and maintaining the networks by managing network IP addresses,
communicating network information and requirements to connect hosts onto the network, and
installing, upgrading, and maintaining network routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points,
wireless controllers, other network devices and servers.

MUST BE CURRENT WI, 100% Onsite
The Network Analyst works with vendors to research emerging technologies and diagnose and
resolve network problems. The Network Analyst utilizes multiple tools to monitor the network to
ensure optimum performance and to assist in troubleshooting issues. The Network Analyst
maintains internet links, works with other Information Services units, faculty, and staff in the
integration, maintenance, and problem resolution of network services, maintains documentation
and database information, and works with Procurement Services in the preparation and evaluation
of bid specifications for network hardware and software.
The position will focus on the wireless infrastructure at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The role includes scouting all buildings at the Zoo, documenting an inventory of all devices and listing product type, model, function, vendor, etc., per location. The candidate will also create a depository of images depicting the technologies present across the Zoo, review network diagrams and define IP schemes, current configuration protocols, and connectivity, and define and associate devices and applications to the various vendor technologies present at the Zoo (e.g., JCI, Gateway POS, etc.). Contributes to the overall success of Information Services by performing all other essential duties as assigned.

The position reports to the Supervisor of Infrastructure Services and does not have any direct
reports.
A bachelors degree is required (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered).
Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow technical instructions, and
problem-solving using diagnostic techniques and protocols are essential.
Thorough understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, routers, switches, and wireless
systems.
Familiarity with WAN, VPNs, multicast, firewalls, DHCP, DNS, IP management, and network
monitoring tools is preferred.
