Job Description: Project Manager
Location: Lansing MI
Duration: 12 Months
Position Overview
The Project Manager will design, plan, and coordinate work teams to achieve business and technical objectives. The role involves following standard project management practices (PMI framework), managing scope, budget, schedule, risks, and resources, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders and project sponsors. This position requires leadership in building project teams, driving accountability, and delivering projects successfully within defined timelines.
Responsibilities
- Develop project charters, work plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Track and report project progress using appropriate metrics.
- Establish project organization, methodologies, and define team roles and responsibilities.
- Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage issues to resolution.
- Create and implement project communication plans.
- Assign tasks to team members, evaluate outcomes, and provide guidance/support.
- Negotiate resources and coordinate with stakeholders and sponsors.
- Ensure timely resolution of barriers to project success.
- Provide technical support for complex application features and system designs.
- Prepare reports and updates for senior management on project status.
- Direct corrective actions in areas where performance falls below expectations.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Project Manager.
- Familiarity with project management concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to work under supervision of senior project or program managers on larger, complex initiatives.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Professional certification (PMP or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Experience in government or public sector projects is a plus.
