One of CEI's largest Telecommunications clients is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to join their growing organization!

Job Title: Electrical Engineer II
Location: 100% Onsite | Schaumburg, IL 60196
Work Schedule/Shift: Mon-Fri 9am – 5pm | Minimum 40 work hours per week.
Duration/Length of Assignment: 6+ Month Contract (Possible Extension or Full-Time Hire Based on Performance)
Pay Rate: $40.00 per hour
Additional Information: This position requires U.S. Citizenship due to the client’s government contracting work supporting public safety communications for first responders. Work is performed in a lab environment, and lab safety glasses are provided. Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship and able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Position Overview:
This position supports the Hardware Research & Development division for the RF Engineering team responsible for advancing communication technology and developing high-performance RF (Radio Frequency) products. The group consists of approximately 8–10 team members who collaborate closely with hardware, design, and test engineers to drive product innovation and ensure alignment with corporate technical objectives. The selected candidate will report directly to the hiring manager within the RF development team and will play a vital role in product redesign and validation initiatives aimed at enhancing communication efficiency and reliability. The Electrical Engineer II will contribute to both design and validation efforts for RF-based products, supporting circuit development, testing, and performance verification. The position involves hands-on work in a lab environment, collaborating across engineering disciplines to troubleshoot, refine, and validate RF systems to ensure compliance with company and industry standards. The engineer will play a key role in supporting the team’s technical output and overall design integrity through analysis, measurement, and practical application of communication theory.

Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in RF circuit design and RF development.
- Strong foundation in wireless communication theory and RF amplifier design.
- Demonstrated experience using RF test equipment, including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Power Meters, for measurement, calibration, and verification.
- Proficiency in LabVIEW for data acquisition, testing automation, or measurement analysis.
- Proven ability to perform circuit building, debugging, and performance verification testing on RF products.
- Capable of interpreting and analyzing test data to identify design deviations and recommend corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to summarize technical findings and results clearly.
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Proficiency in designing or understanding Phase-Locked Loops (PLL), Voltage-Controlled Oscillators (VCO), Receiver systems, and RF Power Amplifiers.
- Experience managing or coordinating multiple concurrent design projects or redesign efforts.
- Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills in RF troubleshooting and failure analysis.
- Prior experience in lab-based hardware R&D environments supporting RF communication systems.
- Familiarity with general project lifecycle documentation and reporting in engineering environments.
- Ability to balance independent work with collaborative team assignments efficiently.
Day to Day/Responsibilities:
- Support product redesign initiatives within the RF hardware R&D department by contributing to RF circuit development, modification, and optimization efforts.
- Design, assemble, and evaluate RF circuits in accordance with wireless communication theory and established engineering methodologies.
- Conduct hands-on circuit building and debugging using diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify, isolate, and correct electrical and signal performance issues.
- Utilize Network and Spectrum Analyzers to measure impedance, frequency response, and signal integrity within test circuits.
- Employ Signal Generators to simulate transmission scenarios and verify communication stability under varying operational conditions.
- Operate Power Meters to assess energy efficiency and output consistency within amplifier systems.
- Use LabVIEW for developing automated testing sequences, capturing data from RF components, and generating test reports for review.
- Perform performance verification testing on RF systems to validate compliance with engineering and quality standards.
- Collaborate with design engineers and cross-functional technical teams to review test outcomes, recommend modifications, and ensure design adherence.
- Support documentation of test results, performance metrics, and system calibration data for engineering reference and audit compliance.
- Maintain a lab-safe environment by adhering to company safety guidelines, wearing appropriate protective equipment, and ensuring all testing is performed safely.
- Participate in team meetings to provide updates on testing progress, findings, and technical challenges that impact project timelines or deliverables.
- Work under the guidance of the hiring manager and senior engineers to meet defined project objectives and deadlines.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methods, workflow efficiency, and documentation practices within the hardware engineering group.
