Short Summary
Seeking an experienced Senior VMware Systems Administrator Specialist to support a large-scale enterprise application environment. The role focuses on maintaining and optimizing Linux/Windows systems, UCS servers, and VMware infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and upgrade internal software and system infrastructure.
- Manage user access, permissions, and passwords.
- Propose and implement system enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
- Monitor system usage, performance, and virtual server health.
- Maintain VMware-based environments and UCS servers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues in data centers (Raleigh and Charlotte).
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new software and hardware solutions.
- Provide hardware specifications based on business and growth requirements.
- Train team members on system operations and usage.
- Participate in on-call rotation, including occasional weekends/holidays.
- Manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator.
- Strong experience with VMware vCenter 8.0+, ESXi, and Nagios.
- Hands-on experience with UNIX/Windows OS administration and support.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows, and SQL Servers.
- Skilled in managing storage systems (Pure Storage, VSAN) and UCS blade servers.
- Strong shell scripting and automation experience.
- Proven collaboration with Security, Networking, DBA, and Development teams.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Service-oriented mindset with strong business awareness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Desired Qualifications
- Linux/Windows Server Certifications (preferred).
- Experience with Microsoft SCCM, Active Directory, SQL 2016/2019, and PowerShell scripting.
- Background in networking, storage, and virtualization technologies.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and on-call as required.
