Compensation: $85/hr - $95/hr / $160,000 - $180,000

Staff Software Engineer in Test

As a Staff Software Engineer in Test, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and resilience of our software solutions. This is a highly hands-on position where you will design, develop, and implement a comprehensive testing strategy that spans across the entire organization. Your primary goal will be to enable rapid enhancements and maintain robust solutions by working closely with cross-functional teams.

In this role, you will be responsible for crafting a detailed testing roadmap that addresses the needs of large, scalable development teams. Reporting directly to the Director of Cloud Operations, you will collaborate with Software Developers, Product Owners, and Business Analysts to integrate quality assurance seamlessly into the development lifecycle. You will be required to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders will be crucial in maintaining transparency and alignment across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing Strategy Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement a comprehensive testing strategy that ensures the resilience and reliability of our platform. Define test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate software functionality, performance, and security.
  • Test Automation: Develop and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard tools and frameworks, with a focus on scalability and maintainability. Implement and enhance test automation frameworks to support continuous integration and deployment.
  • Execution and Reporting: Execute automated and manual tests to validate the functionality, performance, and security of the platform. Generate detailed test reports, analyze results, and communicate findings to the development team.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with developers to understand the architecture and design of the software to ensure effective test coverage. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify testing requirements and incorporate them into the overall development process.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the evolution of testing methodologies within the organization. Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in software testing and quality assurance.

Team Management:
This role does not currently have any direct team management responsibilities but may in the future based on direction provided by the person in this role.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Software Engineer in Test or similar role, with a focus on testing cloud platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring/Boot, XML, and Rest Services.
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG).
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with performance testing tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of security testing principles and practices.
