Technical Support Engineer II

Location: Leesburg, VA
Salary: $32.00 USD Hourly - $42.00 USD Hourly
Description: Our client is currently seeking a Technical Support Engineer II

Responsibilities:

• Conduct spot checks of process staging areas to ensure proper handling, packaging, and storage of parts.
• Execute the damaged parts process, verifying and quarantining damaged components.
• Identify and escalate issues affecting part damage.
• Support key field campaigns and failure investigations.
• Perform diagnostic testing, including DIMM Testing and Post Package Repair (PPR).
• Conduct special damage inspections and repairs of critical parts.
• Perform Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) quick testing for re-inventory boards (~100 boards per week).
• Verify damage reports from onsite personnel (~100 parts per week).
• Repair damaged parts, including cleaning thermal paste, straightening bent connectors, and replacing missing components.
• Audit handling, ESD processes, and packaging at various data center touchpoints.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in a technical role.
• General knowledge of electronic parts and components used in data center hardware (e.g., motherboards, DIMMs, hard drives, network cards, optics).
• Ability to perform first-level failure analysis (FA) for electronic parts.
• Familiarity with mechanical defects in electronic components and hardware.
• Ability to conduct detailed inspections for extended periods.
• Experience using simple inspection equipment such as stereo microscopes and ring lights.
• Proficiency in PC-based data recording and reporting.
• Ability to write process instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence others.
• Ability to handle medium to heavy materials (lifting, pushing, pulling).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Quality assurance background in the electronics industry.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing server, storage, and networking products.
• Knowledge of spreadsheets and databases for data tracking and reporting.
