Microsoft Azure Storage is a highly distributed, massively scalable, and ubiquitously accessible cloud storage platform. Azure storage already runs at Exascale (storing Exabytes of data) and we will scale our designs over the next decade to support Zetta scale (storing Zettabytes of data). Within Azure Storage, the xDPU team is focused on bringing up the storage stack on DPU (Data Processing Units) based nodes to provide unmatched performance at lowest cost.

We are seeking a Software Test Engineer to join our team to help development and deployment of cutting-edge DPU-based storage solutions! In this role, you will do the validation of highly scalable, performant services that deliver highly reliable, secure and available access to storage running on DPU nodes. You will be involved in all phases of the storage lifecycle, design, implementation, test, deployment, and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify the scope of testing to create a complex quality plan for multiple features. You'll also create commitments for test plans in multiple features to estimate the scope of work and agree on requirements with some guidance from others.
  • You will collaborate with partners across teams, developing test plans for various features and ensuring these plans are reviewed by other teams, such as requirement writers and design architects, to solidify the test plan
  • By leveraging available data, you will work within multiple features or a broad/ complex feature area to identify where additional exploration, development, or testing is needed, and help build complex custom visualizations to ensure thorough product testing coverage.
  • You will be contributing to efforts to apply best practices in automation to create and implement automated testing procedures using scripting languages (e.g., C#, Python). Creates automated regression release testing when possible.
  • Maintaining and applying automation tools and encouraging team members to apply automation throughout the testing process (e.g., during development). Writing code or leveraging tools and technology to eliminate repetitive tasks to reduce manual work for multiple features.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science , or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with networking, testing, or storage.
  • Experience with scripting in Python, testing, and debugging.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ year( s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
