Job Description
Job Duties: Vice President, Systems Engineering with Goldman Sachs Services LLC in Dallas, Texas. Responsible for providing support to the Firm's critical applications that leverage Linux platforms, including ensuring the health, performance, and availability of systems, achieving the desired outcomes of those applications. Standardize processes using automation tooling (e.g. Python, bash) and configuration management. Provide production support for Linux systems in response to global client requirements. Monitor available compute capacity and manage the provisioning of additional capacity to meet business requirements. Build automation tools using Python and shell scripting to reduce manual implementation. Develop and implement technical solutions and process improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency. Interact regularly with clients and partner engineering teams across the organization. Advise application developer clients on best practices and infrastructure integration solutions for their applications. Work closely with 1st- and 2nd-level organizations to perform deeply technical troubleshooting.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Electronic and Communications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related role. Prior employment must include five (5) years of experience with: hands-on experience with architecture, implementation, and operation of a Linux-based compute environment; working with the Linux operating system deployed in an enterprise environment, including experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting; automation of configuration management and software deployment using tools at least one of the following: Chef, Ansible, and Saltstack; integrating Linux compute with enterprise Storage platforms (such as Network Attached Storage/NAS, Storage Area Network/SAN, or object), and working with related Linux tooling, including Logical Volume Manager (LVM); setting and meeting project goals when implementing and integrating complex technology concepts; working with at least one of the following scripting high-level languages: Shell, Python, Ruby, Perl and Powershell, and use of version management (such as Git or Subversion) to manage the software development lifecycle (SDLC) of tools written in these language(s); working concurrently on multiple (2 or more) technical projects; working with virtualization technologies, including at least one of the following: VMware ESX, KVM, and Microsoft Hyper-V; and independently and proactively following change management, incident management, and risk management processes. Prior employment must include two (2) years of experience with: administering or architecting compute implementations via public cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud IaaS/PaaS platforms; use of continuous integration/continuous development (CI/CD) tooling (such as Jenkins, TeamCity, GitLab) for automated testing, build, or DevOps pipelines; and integrating vendor technologies into enterprise platforms.
