The IT Portfolio Manager within a PMO serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership, ensuring that IT initiatives align with business objectives and deliver value to the organization.
Responsibilities of an IT Portfolio Manage include:
Strategic Planning:
- Define IT Portfolio Strategy: Develop and align the IT portfolio strategy with the overall business objectives and priorities.
- Align Projects with Business Goals: Ensure that IT projects and initiatives within the portfolio are aligned with the strategic goals of the bank.
- Develop Portfolio Roadmaps: Create and maintain portfolio roadmaps that outline the sequence and dependencies of projects, ensuring they contribute to the overall business strategy.
Portfolio Governance:
- Prioritization and Decision-Making: Establish and enforce governance processes for project prioritization and decision-making. Ensure that projects within the portfolio align with organizational priorities and resource constraints.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with the IT portfolio, working to mitigate potential issues and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Resource Management:
- Resource Allocation: Optimize the allocation of resources, including budget, personnel, and technology, across different projects within the IT portfolio.
- Capacity Planning: Collaborate with project managers and department heads to ensure that the organization has the necessary capacity to execute and deliver projects successfully.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Define and monitor key performance indicators to assess the health and progress of projects within the portfolio.
- Reporting: Generate regular reports for senior leadership, stakeholders, and project teams, providing insights into the status, risks, and performance of the IT portfolio.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders, including executives, project managers, and team members. Provide updates on the status of projects, changes in priorities, and overall portfolio performance.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with business units, IT teams, and other relevant stakeholders to understand their needs, gather feedback, and ensure collaboration.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The IT Project Management Office (PMO) Portfolio Manager is accountable for the delivery, monitoring, and execution of projects within the scope of assigned portfolio. This position oversees the management of the portfolio and supervises the project professionals, including Sr. Project Managers, Project Managers, Sr. Analysts, and Analysts, supporting the portfolios to ensure consistency with strategy, commitments, and goals to accelerate the achievement of business value. Portfolio Managers closely align with Portfolio Sponsors to ensure goals and objectives of each project under the respective portfolio are met. Guides, advises, and directs innovative approaches and solutions within and across the enterprise to achieve desired business outcomes. Partners and consults with various business and technical executives and leaders to deliver iterative business value and achieve business strategy and objectives.
What you ll need:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in a problem-solving function
- Demonstrated problem solving experience with cross-functional teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications
- Ability to work in San Antonio, or travel to San Antonio as needed
- Knowledge of financial products and services, especially as it relates to various delivery channels preferred.
- Knowledge of existing bank products, services, and overall operational guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of business analytical practices and methodologies and process improvement methodologies, e.g., Lean or Six Sigma a plus.
- Strong research, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Customer-focused attitude and ability to work proactively and efficiently.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, programs, and or portfolios within a financial services institution
