Location: Monrovia, CA (Hybrid)

Duration: 6+ Months contract

Shift timings each.

  1. 7am - 4pm PST
  2. 1pm -10pm PST

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to support a high-availability client environment requiring 247 operations across Oracle and SQL Server platforms. The Oracle DBA will be responsible for proactive monitoring, maintenance, performance tuning, incident response, and close collaboration with development and security teams. This role demands deep expertise in Oracle technologies, operational discipline, and strong communication capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support over 40+ Oracle databases, including Oracle Database Appliance (ODA), alongside 100+ SQL Server instances
  • Implement and maintain performance monitoring using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM 23c/23i), Spotlight, and other diagnostic tools
  • Lead and participate in incident management, including triage, root cause analysis (RCA), resolution, and post-mortem documentation
  • Perform routine database health checks, backup & recovery using RMAN, Data Guard, and GoldenGate
  • Establish and optimize alert thresholds, automate diagnostic workflows, and minimize alert fatigue
  • Ensure database recovery readiness, support PCI/GDPR compliance, and execute disaster recovery (DR) testing and failover procedures
  • Work closely with application development teams to review schema changes, evaluate SQL performance, and support test environments
  • Leverage tools such as GitHub and CI/CD pipelines for version control of PL/SQL code and deployment automation
  • Deliver regular reporting and KPI dashboards covering performance, availability, and SLA adherence
  • Adhere to and enforce security best practices, including encryption, CyberArk PAM integration, and vulnerability remediation

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator supporting both Oracle (11g/12c/19c) and SQL Server
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL tuning, index management, and resolving performance bottlenecks
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle monitoring tools (OEM, Spotlight) and integration with ticketing systems like JIRA
  • Familiarity with cloud and hybrid deployments, including Oracle Cloud and Azure SQL
  • Solid understanding of security frameworks and compliance mandates (e.g., PCI, GDPR)
  • Proven experience with backup/recovery strategies, high availability (HA) architecture, and disaster recovery
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively in client-facing roles
  • Willingness to participate in a 247 on-call rotation
