Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. This role involves overseeing vendor activities, ensuring compliance with security configurations, and coordinating across various teams to maintain audit compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mainframe infrastructure, security, and governance, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor vendor activities for compliance and ensure proper ticket handling and SLA adherence.
- Coordinate across application, infrastructure, and distributed teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Interpret and validate evidence for audit compliance and security configurations.
- Support upcoming projects, including DB2 upgrades, GDDR upgrades, and Connect:Direct changes.
- Oversee patching for PTFs and SC remediation for IMS upgrades.
- Identify technical risks to planned system upgrades and implement mitigations.
- Analyze and resolve system problems, providing recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe infrastructure engineering.
- Deep knowledge of z/OS architectures, z/OS internals, and mainframe security.
- Experience with zSecure and its customization language, Carla.
- Familiarity with RACF, IMS, DB2, and other mainframe components.
- Understanding of governance, controls, audits, and findings remediation.
- Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, IOF, VI, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and ServiceNow.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work cross-functionally.
