Job Description:
Our client, a leading federal defense contractor is seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer with strong circuit design experience to become an integral member of the engineering team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics the Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) system. There are currently 20 custom cards in the process of updating, as well as creating new ones.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop new and modify existing electronics in the form of PCB designs
  • Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits including analog signal conditioning and communication interfaces
  • Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware
  • Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems
  • Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions to design hardware and electronics based on commercial and industry components and technologies
  • Generate design and interface documentation
  • Design cable assemblies
  • Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer

Required Skills
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM field and 5 years of job-related experience or a Master's degree and 3 years.
  • Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation, and test phases
  • Working knowledge of common communication interfaces such as RS-422, RS-485, and LVDS
  • Experience in analog and digital circuit design
  • Experience with lab equipment including signal generators, high speed oscilloscopes, and digital logic analyzers
  • Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry (OrCAD Capture experience a plus), and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Experience with firmware or microcontrollers a plus
  • Experience with VHDL/Verilog a plus
