Job Title: Data Modeler (Database Administrator Advanced)

Location: Lincoln, Nebraska

Summary:

Seeking an experienced Data Modeler to lead the design and development of enterprise-scale data models that support cross-functional initiatives across healthcare and human services domains. This role requires deep expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, with a strong understanding of public sector data environments and healthcare systems. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, technical proficiency, and a collaborative approach to unify data across complex systems and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to identify data and information needs across programs.
  • Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support enterprise-wide integration and reporting.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive information architecture blueprint, including metadata, data flows, and lineage.
  • Standardize and unify data definitions across disparate systems, departments, and reporting functions.
  • Analyze existing systems and business processes to determine structural data requirements.
  • Facilitate working sessions with business leads, SMEs, and IT teams to gather requirements and validate models.
  • Define and socialize target-state data models and architecture with key stakeholders.
  • Implement data governance practices, including standards, ownership matrices, and quality controls.
  • Support the implementation of physical data models and optimize for performance, scalability, and usability.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 5 years of hands-on experience in data modeling, including enterprise-level projects.
  • Proven experience with healthcare or HHS data in a public sector or government setting.
  • Strong knowledge of relational, hierarchical, and Big Data modeling concepts.
  • Proficiency with Erwin or similar data modeling and metadata management tools.
  • Familiarity with data integration, interoperability standards, and data quality frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of data architecture principles, including storage, security, and governance.
  • We're looking for a self-motivated team member who can work independently in a fully remote Agile environment - someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates proactively, and drives progress without needing close supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certification in Data Architecture or Data Modeling is a plus.

Experience working in agile environments and contributing to strategic data initiatives.
