Job Details

We're hiring in Houston! This role will be 100% onsite in downtown Houston. Candidates must have at least 5 years for engineering experience within upstream oil & gas.

The Reservoir and Production Engineering Technician provides engineering, technical, and analytical support to reservoir and production engineers and geoscientists in the evaluation, monitoring, and optimization of the company's assets. This role involves collecting, managing, and analyzing production, pressure, and reservoir data to support field well performance analysis, production surveillance, development planning, optimization of hydrocarbon recovery, and evaluation of new opportunities.

Key responsibilities
Gather, validate, and maintain production and pressure data from multiple sources (SCADA, field reports, production and operational databases)
Assist reservoir and production engineers in monitoring daily well performance and identifying key performance drivers or underperforming wells
Maintain Aries corporate, reserves, and working databases
Maintain reservoir and production engineering databases and documentation for wells, fields, and reservoirs
Assist engineers with input preparation for reservoir and production modeling or analysis
Assist with 3rd party reserve audits (data management, reconciliation, and communication)
Assist with annual budgeting processes (data management, roll-ups, and communication)
OBO activity monitoring (data trades, rig activity, etc)
Perform quality control checks on incoming datasets
Prepare and update reservoir and production surveillance dashboards and well performance reports
Generate slides, plots, cross-sections, and maps to visualize and communicate analyses and concepts to key internal and external stakeholders
Help prepare technical presentations, economic evaluations, and AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) packages
Work with functional teams to maintain data quality and integrity, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and reliability across all engineering and corporate data assets
Assist in the definition, development, and maintenance of the corporate data warehouse to ensure consistency and integrity of company-wide data assets

Required experience, skills and abilities
Bachelor s degree or equivalent in relevant technical major
Minimum 5 years direct experience supporting engineering functions with upstream oil and gas analysis, data, data structures and projects in unconventional assets
Proficiency working with Aries
Proficiency working with industry standard production and operational databases (such as WellView, Merrick, OpenWells, ProdView, Carte/ProCount)
Proficiency working with upstream oil and gas intelligence data (Enverus, SP Global, TGS, etc.)
Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
Proficiency with business intelligence tools such as Spotfire or Tableau
Foundational knowledge of SQL and database querying
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred experience, skills and abilities
Familiarity with time-series databases, production historians (e.g., OSI PI)
Familiarity with SCADA systems
Proficiency supporting work with specialized petroleum engineering software (e.g., ComboCurve, Harmony suite, etc.)
Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience in database management and optimization
Experience in Python or R coding
Familiarity with Kingdom/Petra and StarSteer
Familiarity with ArcGIS systems and tools
