Senior Project Manager - Finance & Accounting Systems


Overview:
Seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead strategic technology initiatives focused on modernizing and integrating Finance and Accounting systems. This role will oversee cross-functional efforts involving platforms such as JD Edwards (JDE) and Medius (Accounts Payable), ensuring effective collaboration between IT and Business Operations. The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of ERP-related project leadership experience, particularly within mid-sized organizational transformations.




Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead planning and execution of technology projects related to Finance and Accounting systems and processes.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, business case, ROI, resource needs, and vendor deliverables.

  • Apply and enhance project management standards and frameworks.

  • Partner with IT, Finance, Accounting, and Procurement teams to document project goals, scope, ROI, resource requirements, and change management plans.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, ensuring team alignment on timelines and dependencies.

  • Manage system upgrades, data quality improvements, and feature optimization for Finance and Accounting platforms.

  • Drive enhancements in billing, cost analytics, and decision support systems through automation and improved data integrity.

  • Communicate proactively with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure coordinated execution and transparency.

  • Support change management efforts including communication, training, and deployment planning.

  • Utilize collaboration tools such as Smartsheet, Box, Google Workspace, Zoom, Lucidchart, PowerPoint, and Jira.

  • Coordinate with QA teams to ensure quality delivery through testing and validation, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Uphold project management best practices across scope, risk, schedule, and stakeholder management.

  • Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical documentation.

  • Develop transition plans for system support and ROI tracking post-implementation.

  • Conduct project health assessments and lessons learned reviews.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, MIS, or related field.

  • Active Project Management certification (PMP preferred; Prince2 considered).

  • Strong understanding of ERP systems (preferably JD Edwards), Finance/Accounting modules, GAAP, and data integration.

  • Proven experience in deploying Finance and Accounting reporting and analytics platforms.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Skilled in executive-level presentations and stakeholder engagement.

  • Experience with Smartsheet and Jira; ability to tailor project reports as needed.

  • Familiarity with Change Management frameworks (e.g., PROSCI, ADKAR).

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with discretion and confidentiality.
