Lead AV Installation Technician - Structured Cabling & AV Integration

Company Overview:

We are a nationally recognized structured cabling company that has recently acquired a commercial AV integration firm. As we expand our AV division, we're hiring two Lead AV Installation Technicians to anchor our field operations in Bethel, CT and Dallas, TX. These roles are critical to delivering high-quality AV solutions across a growing portfolio of commercial projects.

Position Summary:

This is a hands-on leadership role for experienced AV professionals who thrive in installation environments. You'll be the on-site lead, responsible for interpreting AV designs, coordinating crews, managing inventory, and serving as the primary field contact for project managers and clients. These are long-term, project-based positions with consistent work and growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead AV installation teams on structured cabling and AV integration projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, line drawings, and scopes of work.
  • Oversee installation of AV systems including displays, projectors, speakers, DSPs, and control systems.
  • Manage on-site inventory, record serial numbers, and track material usage.
  • Coordinate with project managers for timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Maintain daily job journals, field documentation, and certification reports.
  • Identify and communicate scope changes, material issues, and technical challenges.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and ensure work meets design and safety standards.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to field personnel.
  • Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in commercial AV installation, with proven leadership in the field.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret AV system designs and construction documents.
  • Hands-on experience with AV system configuration and device programming.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs and work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Preferred Certifications:

  • AVIXA CTS or CTS-I
  • OSHA 30 Construction Safety
  • Crestron DM-NVX, Toolbox, or other Crestron platform certifications
  • Biamp Tesira or SageVue platform experience
  • Extron XTP or similar manufacturer-specific training
