responsibilities:
A Day in the Life: ETL Developer
- Check ETL job logs and troubleshoot failed data transfers
- Attend team meetings to coordinate with Database Administrators
- Optimize existing SSIS packages to improve performance
- Meet with department stakeholders to gather data pipeline requirements
- Create SQL queries and design transformation logic
- Build new ETL processes with error handling and validation
- Test data integration workflows using sample datasets
- Monitor warehouse performance and implement efficiency improvements
- Update technical documentation for data flows
- Verify data quality through reconciliation reports
Throughout your day, you'll leverage SQL and SSIS expertise to ensure critical city data flows seamlessly between systems while maintaining integrity across the enterprise.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience developing ETL solutions using SSIS
- Strong proficiency in SQL Server and T-SQL query development
- Experience implementing and supporting data warehouse architectures
- Knowledge of data modeling best practices for dimensional data warehouses
- Familiarity with data validation techniques and error handling protocols
- Background in enterprise-level database environments
- Understanding of performance tuning for database and ETL processes
- Experience creating technical documentation for data integration workflows
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams
Preferred:
- Microsoft certifications (MCSA: SQL Server, Azure Data Engineer)
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, SSRS, or Power BI
- Previous work in government or public sector environments
