Job Title: Telco Network Application CaaS SME 5G Applications & Cloud Enablement
Location: Frisco (TX)/ Overland Park (Kansas)
Duration: 12+ months

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Telco Network Application SME specializing in Containers-as-a-Service (CaaS) to lead the onboarding, integration, and operational readiness of 5G network functions and telco workloads on our container-based cloud platforms preferably Red Hat OpenShift. This role is pivotal in Day 1 onboarding of CNFs and Day 2 support including observability, troubleshooting, and issue resolution to ensure telco-grade reliability and performance.

This is a technical leadership role that combines deep telco domain expertise with hands-on cloud-native operations, container orchestration, and platform optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Day 1 Application Onboarding & Enablement:

  • Lead technical engagement for onboarding 5G and Telco CNFs onto container-based platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes).
  • Review and validate Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests, and container packaging for 5G workloads (e.g., AMF, SMF, UPF, gNB).
  • Ensure applications are compliant with CaaS platform requirements, cloud-native best practices, and Telco-grade SLA criteria.
  • Collaborate with application vendors and infrastructure teams to drive successful validation and integration.

Day 2 Observability, Monitoring & Operational Excellence:

  • Define and implement monitoring, alerting, and telemetry frameworks for 5G CNFs using Prometheus, Grafana, Fluentd, ELK, etc.
  • Analyze logs, traces, and metrics to proactively identify failure points, performance bottlenecks, and common issues.
  • Develop operational runbooks and lead incident root cause analysis and resolution planning.
  • Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, and NOC teams to ensure smooth transition from deployment to steady-state operations.

Platform & Technical Leadership:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for 5G CNF lifecycle management on CaaS platforms.
  • Lead design reviews and architectural assessments for CNF deployments and upgrades.
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers and drive best practice adoption across agile teams.
  • Contribute to internal CaaS platform evolution and CNF onboarding automation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years in Telco network application domains, with at least 3 years focused on CNF/CaaS deployments in a 5G environment.
  • Deep knowledge of 5G architecture (Core, RAN, MEC) and applications from vendors such as Nokia, Ericsson, or Mavenir.
  • Expertise in container platforms (Red Hat OpenShift preferred; Kubernetes acceptable).
  • Experience with Helm, Operators, Kubernetes CRDs, and container lifecycle management.
  • Solid understanding of Day 2 operational tooling and practices: observability, scaling, failover, patching.
  • Proficient in CI/CD workflows and scripting (Bash, Python, Ansible).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with ETSI NFV, O-RAN, TMF APIs, or MANO frameworks.
  • Experience in automating CNF onboarding workflows and validation pipelines.
  • Exposure to hybrid/multi-cloud Telco architectures.
