Network Infrastructure and Cloud Security Architect
Location: Richmond, VA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in-office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays) - NON - NEGOTIABLE
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (100% budgeted to go FTE after 90 days)

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Network Infrastructure and Cloud Security Architect to join their Information Technology Services team. This individual will be responsible for engineering, securing, operating, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure and cloud-based solutions. This is a key technical role supporting multiple physical and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

Network Design & Implementation

  • Design, implement, and support voice and data communications networks (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi).
  • Provide support across all organizational locations, including satellite and partner sites.
  • Administer on-premises and cloud firewalls; maintain up-to-date network diagrams.
  • Manage enterprise telephone systems and cloud-based contact centers (e.g., Five9).
  • Install and configure hardware such as switches, routers, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Manage service provider relationships for internet, telephony, and network services.
  • Maintain external DNS records and support Azure network communication requirements.

Cloud and Security Operations

  • Manage and troubleshoot Azure networking, routing, and connectivity.
  • Leverage SEIM tools for issue identification and resolution.
  • Develop and maintain network security standards and guidelines.
  • Perform firewall log analysis and NetFlow-based diagnostics.
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and vulnerability management practices.

System Maintenance & Performance

  • Monitor network performance and reliability to meet SLAs.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and support contracts.
  • Deliver user training for telecom and network services.
  • Track lifecycle of hardware/software for compliance and cost analysis.
  • Support call recording, reporting systems, and voice directory maintenance.

Project Involvement & Support

  • Collaborate with IT and business project teams as a subject matter expert.
  • Assist in evaluating new technologies and products.
  • Provide executive-level technical support and documentation.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Communications Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Experience:
  • 7+ years in a network/cloud security architect or similar role.

Technical & Professional Competencies

  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Skilled in LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi design and deployment.
  • Proficient with network performance monitoring and issue resolution.
  • Experience with:
    • Azure Cloud Networking
    • Fortinet Firewalls
    • AVAYA VOIP Phone Systems
    • Network hardware & protocols (LAN/WAN/Wireless/ISDN/Cellular)
    • SEIM tools and NetFlow diagnostics
    • DNS and VPN management
    • Microsoft Windows OS and desktop applications
  • Familiarity with enterprise security standards and project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
  • Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
