Job Description Summary

As our Radiology Clinical Workflow Specialist, you are the consummate professional whose focus is to ensure the efficient and effective management of digital imaging and related workflow processes in a healthcare setting.

The Clinical Workflow Specialist will be responsible for optimizing the radiology department’s PACS system thru deep knowledge of clinical and operational workflows and product functionalities. This role involves collaboration with Radiologists, Imaging Technologists, IT Professionals, and other healthcare staff while providing guidance and recommendations throughout the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) implementation to ensure maximum productivity, satisfaction, and adoptability for the customer.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct workflow analysis, identifying areas for improvement within the radiology department’s PACS and provide current workflow and future state designs with customers to recommend best practices.
  • Serve as the principal clinical leader responsible for the configuration of the PACS application along with system testing of the PACS environment.
  • Collect and upload configuration files. This may include gathering and documenting required information and data from customer and internal project resources and performing validation testing.
  • Identify and create test plans/scripts based on the customer needs and specific workflow scenarios.
  • Provide training and support to Radiologists, Clinicians, Technologists, PACS/RIS Systems
  • Administrators and other end-users in the use of their product during the implementation phase as well as during the Pre and Go live events.
  • As a vital member of the implementation team, mentor, and guide customers, collaborate with internal resources, to prepare for successful activation. Ensure the customer can effectively use the product to maximize their productivity and long-term success.
  • Maintain communication with customer and other team members to ensure deliverables and desired outcomes are on track and expectations are clear. Facilitate answers to technical and clinical customer questions, identify resources to assist as needed.
  • Apply and utilize change management practices throughout the project.
  • Aid in the development of an online knowledge share database.
  • Conducts pre-sales assessments as needed to support the sales and pre-sales team to understand customer objectives earlier in the sales process and to highlight areas of opportunity with the customer. Assist internal sales team in the determination of product and hardware requirements for quoting purposes.
  • Understand and track all project metrics including effort and financials according to clinical plan.
  • Provide consultative leadership for implementation team. Includes responsibilities such as: interviews, analysis, surveys, strategic direction, implementation procedures, post go live analysis.
  • Work with customers and internal resources throughout the project life cycle, conduct ongoing assessment and evaluation of pre-determined success factors.
  • Identify opportunities for the organization to partner with clients across clinical, financial, and operational platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Healthcare, Information Systems, Radiology, or related field.
  • Clinical Applications or Radiologic Technologist experience and strong understanding of related
  • departmental and enterprise image/clinical workflow and utilization.
  • 7+ years’ experience in radiology imaging clinical workflow experience.
  • Prior Universal Viewer/Workflow Manager PACS Experience as a Super User and/or PACS
  • Administrator to involve system configuration.
  • Strong understanding of radiology information systems (RIS), PACS, DICOM standards and HL7
  • interfaces.
  • Must be willing to travel 50-70%.

Desired Characteristics

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, executive presence, ability to take technical data and effectively communicate and tailor the message based on customer audience.
  • Experience with integration standards: HL7, FHIR, DICOM, and IHE.
  • Familiarity with SQL syntax, database fundamentals, and how to create conditional filters.
  • Strong skills using Microsoft VISIO, Project, and Office Professional components.
  • Exposure and experience providing consultative solutions to customers.
  • Proven ability to effectively consult with customers to help them understand and adopt recommended/best practice workflows.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of clinical and technical customers resources.
  • Knowledge of Radiology PACS, VNA and Information System implementation methodology and ability to translate this in support of a successful implementation.
  • Change management experience preferred.
  • Training experience preferred.
  • Works independently, self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated resiliency and experience managing difficult challenging conversations.
