Job Description

You will be a Cyber Software Engineer for a research and development team which is responsible for investigating and exploiting the newest technological advances to resolve complex problems.

What You Will Be Doing

As a AI-Enabled Cyber Software Engineer, you will fuse advanced AI/ML techniques with cyber-software development to create intelligent, adaptive solutions. You'll work closely with customers throughout the development life-cycle, turning AI research breakthroughs into operational capabilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Design, develop, and integrate AI/ML models (e.g., anomaly detection, threat-intel extraction, generative-AI code analysis) into cyber-software solutions.
• Incorporate security considerations throughout the software development lifecycle (threat modeling, AI-driven hardening, automated code reviews, vulnerability assessments, adversarial-ML testing).
• Researching and developing new software and AI/ML technologies with a cyber lens to resolve complex problems.
• Integrate security considerations throughout the software development lifecycle (threat modeling, hardening, code reviews, vulnerability assessments).
• Collaborating with customers throughout the development life-cycle to ensure innovative solutions meet their needs.
• Contributing to a team environment that values innovation, creativity, and teamwork.

Basic Qualifications

• Active TS clearance with SCI elegability required prior to start.
• Hands-on experience with at least one of the following AI/ML frameworks:
  
  TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX, ONNX, Scikit-learn
• Experience building or deploying a local AI stack such as:
  
  Ollama, LocalAI, LangChain, or comparable open-source frameworks
• Fluent in two or more programming languages, e.g.:
  
  C/C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby
• Expertise with one or more operating systems:
  
  Linux, Unix, macOS, Windows, Android, iOS
• Hands-on experience using configuration-management tools such as:
  
  Git, SVN, TFS, Mercurial
• Formal education or professional experience in a relevant field:
  
  Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline

Desired skills

• Demonstrated experience integrating AI/ML models (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX, LangChain) into production-grade applications.
• Strong team orientation - ability to collaborate across cyber, data-science, and hardware groups and quickly assimilate new concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of translating complex AI techniques to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for exploring emerging technologies such as generative AI, foundation models, and edge-AI runtimes.
• Proficiency with Agile development practices (Scrum, Kanban) and iterative delivery cycles.
• Solid foundation in cyber-security principles (threat modeling, secure coding, vulnerability assessment).

Experience that will set you apart

• Design, training, and deployment of AI/ML solutions for anomaly detection, code-analysis, or autonomous decision-making.
• Development of custom hardware or FPGA/ASIC prototypes that accelerate AI workloads.
• Hands-on exploit analysis and development of AI-assisted red-team tooling.
• Work with wireless and RF technologies (e.g., 5G, BLE, SDR).
• Creating mobile applications (Android/iOS) that embed on-device inference engines.
• Building containerized AI pipelines (Docker, Kubernetes, OCI) for scalable deployment.
• Utilizing cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
• Implementing automated testing frameworks for AI models (unit, integration, adversarial testing).
• Establishing CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) with model versioning and rollout automation.
• Rapid prototyping using simulation tools, hardware-in-the-loop, and low-code AI platforms.
• Deep knowledge of IP networking and secure communications for AI-enabled edge devices.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $97,100 - $171,235. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $111,700 - $193,660. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
