As a member of the Reliability Programs team, the Reliability Engineer supports their assigned Fleet Engineering team and reports directly to the manager of Reliability Programs. In this role, the Reliability Engineer acts as a key control for Delta's Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS) to comply with 14 CFR 121.373. They are responsible for continuously monitoring the fleet mechanical reliability performance to assess effectiveness of the scheduled maintenance program to validate the program is achieving its desired results.
The Reliability engineer is skilled with applied knowledge and understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and MSG-3 methodology and principles. They can explain key definitions, and concepts of the process. They will guide other engineers and team members by facilitating reliability reviews that follow a structured, and disciplined RCM based FMEA process. They are accountable for ensuring a quality output from each team's reliability review that result in solutions or recommendations for reliability improvement.
At the end of each reliability review, the Reliability Programs Engineer is responsible for updating and maintaining a centralized library that captures the functional failure and failure mode mapping output of that review. This centralized library is a critical intellectual data asset that feeds into proprietary data platform for continuous surveillance and analysis monitoring tools.
The candidate must have a compliance mindset with proven ability to drive business results by partnering with cross-divisional organizations.

Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly surveillance of mechanical reliability trends to identify significant deficiencies or emerging reliability issues, sharing key insights with respective Fleet/Propulsion teams.
- Evaluate and monitor effectiveness of existing fleet maintenance strategies and recommend areas for improvement.
- Apply Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) process to analyze top reliability drivers. Facilitate reliability reviews among a team of aircraft system experts and help them to link operational functional failures with their associated failure modes.
- Assess patterns and consequences of failure for each failure mode to derive are commended maintenance strategy to preserve system level function.
- Own and maintain an on-going centralized fleet-based library to capture the outputs for each RCM reliability review.
- Experience using Relia Soft or similar statistical distribution software to perform Life Data Analysis (LDA) to determine failure distributions of component populations.
- Track and monitor effectiveness of implemented solutions, or changes in maintenance strategy. Routinely provide updates to the fleet leadership team.
- Champion adoption of predictive-alert based Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM+) opportunities for maintaining reliability of aircraft systems.
- May oversee responsibilities and task assignments of Reliability Specialist.
- Review and establish new processes and documents related TOPP or SOP
- May be responsible for preparing and presenting presentations to all levels of management as well as regulatory agencies
- Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, analytics, or computer science with at
least 5 years of relevant aviation experience; a master's degree in a related field plus at least 3 years of the above experience; in the absence of these specific degrees, must have 5-10 years of the above-related experience - Must be able to facilitate and lead a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) reliability review process.
- Experience using Relia Soft or similar statistical based software to perform failure distribution Life Data Analysis (LDA)
- Ability to establish goals and lead a team with minimal direction
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office software products
- Must be able to influence and work effectively with a variety of people, both internally and externally
- (If transferring internally) Must be performing satisfactorily in present position
- Must practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedure
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)
- Aviation or similar heavy industry experience with proactive asset failure management
- Experience using data analysis tools/languages such as Python, and SQL
