Senior Java / Node.js Developer

We are looking for a Senior Java / Node.js Developer to help drive the architectural revamp our client's internal media platform. This role requires a strong backend engineering background, in Node.js, alongside responsibilities in Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot. You ll play a key role in consolidating backend tools, modernizing tech stack versions (Java 8/10/12 17/21), and evolving the platform s scalability and performance.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• 3+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong JavaScript & Node.js proficiency.
• Experience with Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot preferred.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs & microservices.
• SQL/NoSQL database management experience.
• Git/version control proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience contributing to large-scale backend architecture revamps.
• Strong understanding of system consolidation and microservices modernization.
• Comfort handling stakeholder communication across various business units.
• Ability to work onsite in LA (3 days/week) OR demonstrate exceptional remote proficiency.
• Bachelor s degree

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect & Modernize: Contribute to the re-architecture of existing internal systems, ensuring scalability and performance optimization.
• Backend Development: Lead backend engineering efforts, focusing on Node.js (microservices), while maintaining proficiency in Java/Kotlin/Spring Boot for broader system integrations.
• Tech Stack Modernization: Upgrade backend infrastructure by migrating outdated Java versions (8/10/12) to newer releases (17/21) for efficiency and maintainability.
• Agile Development: Operate within a two-week sprint cycle, managing Jira tickets independently with minimal supervision.
• Scalability & Flexibility: Contribute to backend code development while having the ability to pivot into Kotlin/Spring-based services as needed.

Hybrid work. 3 days in Glendale, CA office.
