Application Packager

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid), Eastern Time Zone

Duration: 6 Months +

My direct client is seeking for a Junior-intermediate Application Packager.

Role Purpose

The role will support the senior application packaging team by assisting with day-to-day packaging activities, routine deployments, and documentation, under the guidance and supervision of senior packagers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating, testing, and deploying application packages using PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT) and MSI packaging tools (e.g., Advanced Installer).
  • Support with SCCM / Intune deployments, ensuring accurate targeting and scheduling.
  • Carry out routine updates, re-packages, and basic troubleshooting of applications.
  • Maintain packaging documentation, installation instructions, and version control records.
  • Collaborate with the senior packager to ensure packages meet security, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Report progress, issues, and risks to senior team members in a timely manner.
  • Follow packaging standards, policies, and escalation routes as defined by the packaging team.

Requirements (Essential)

  • Some knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
  • Practical experience using PowerShell Application Deployment Toolkit PSADT in live environments.
  • Familiarity with application packaging concepts (e.g., MSI, EXE repackaging).
  • Exposure to deployment tools such as SCCM or Intune.
  • 2 years+ relevant IT experience (e.g., desktop support, IT operations, or packaging assistance).
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow technical processes, and eagerness to learn.
  • Experience with AI is a plus

Requirements (Desirable)

  • Hands-on knowledge of MSI packaging solutions.
  • Awareness of software testing, application lifecycle, or change control.
  • Experience collaborating in a team with senior engineers or specialists.

Reporting & Supervision

  • Reports directly to Senior Application Packager.
  • Works under supervision; complex packaging and project work remain the responsibility of the senior team.
