Title: Telecom Project Manager Position Type: Contract
Location: BROADWAY, NY (Need local with DL)
Description:
Interview: Onsite
Manager will interview candidates asap!!! This will be a quick hire for the right person.
Telecom Project Manager whose primary mission is to drive telecom cost reduction and rate optimization across domestic and international services. You'll come in quickly, understand carrier rate structures (Telecommunication, AT&T and other carriers), interrogate huge billing/data sets in Excel, identify savings opportunities, and own negotiations and implementation including delivering measurable savings to large public-sector customers (e.g., the MTA). This is a pragmatic, execution-first role: heavy Excel/data work + vendor/carrier scrutiny + project management discipline.
Key responsibilities
- Audit and analyze large telecom billing datasets (wireline, wireless, international long distance, roaming, IoT/M2M) to identify inefficiencies, billing errors, and savings opportunities.
- Benchmark international and domestic rates; map rate drivers and recommend alternative routing/pricing.
- Lead carrier/vendor negotiations (Telecommunication, AT&T, MVNOs, international carriers and suppliers) to reduce MRC/NRC and international charges.
- Create and execute cost-savings projects end-to-end: scope, business case, timeline, risk mitigation, procurement, implementation, acceptance.
- Reconcile carrier invoices and dispute/rectify inaccuracies; implement invoice validation controls and automated checks.
- Build and maintain detailed cost models, monthly reporting and dashboards to show baseline spend, realized savings, and forecast.
- Work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal (contracts), Procurement, Network Operations, and client stakeholders (public agencies such as the MTA).
- Implement rate optimization strategies (pooled plans, aggregated contracts, negotiation of international tariffs, SIM management, rate card reassignments).
- Document playbooks: contract negotiation playbook, invoice audit procedure, vendor scorecards and escalation paths.
- Be an operational owner: hands-on with spreadsheets, willing to dig into line-level charges and make remediation happen.
- Manage 3rd-party consultants when needed; own vendor SLAs and deliverables.
Must-have qualifications
- 5+ years telecom project management, cost-optimization, or telecom vendor management experience ideally with direct exposure to Telecommunication and AT&T offerings.
- Experience working in/with the financial services industry or public-sector clients (experience with MTA or other transit/public agencies is a strong plus).
- Exceptional Excel skills: advanced formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot/data modeling, VBA/macros (able to manipulate and analyze very large datasets fast).
- Proven track record of identifying and delivering measurable telecom cost savings.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing carrier contracts and invoice disputes.
- Comfortable working hands-on and executing tactical tasks as well as building strategic plans.
- Excellent communication skills for senior stakeholder briefings and cross-functional coordination.
