RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Lead Project Engineer in North Haven, CT.

Responsibilities:
* Project Leadership: Lead the design and development of roadway and highway projects, from preliminary studies through final design and construction support
* Technical Oversight: Provide advanced technical expertise in horizontal and vertical roadway alignments, pavement design, grading, drainage, traffic control, and utility coordination
* Client Engagement: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations, building relationships, and ensuring satisfaction across multiple agencies (DOTs, municipalities, etc.)
* Project Management: Develop scopes, budgets, and schedules; Lead multidisciplinary teams and manage subconsultants to ensure timely and profitable project delivery
* Quality Assurance: Review and seal plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates; Ensure adherence to applicable standards (AASHTO, MUTCD, local DOT guidelines)
* Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to junior engineers and designers; Foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration
* Business Development Support: Assist with proposal development, project pursuits, and client presentations; Help identify new opportunities and expand market presence

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's degree preferred
* Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and the ability to obtain reciprocity
* 20+ years of progressive experience in roadway design and transportation infrastructure
* Proficient in design software such as MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related tools
* Strong understanding of DOT design standards, permitting processes, and construction practices
* Proven track record of delivering large-scale transportation projects on time and within budget
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong leadership, mentorship, and team-building abilities

Preferred:
* Experience working with CTDOT, MASSDOT, NYDOT, RIDOT, VDOT, FDOT, TXDOT
* Familiarity with federal and state transportation funding and documentation requirements
* Prior involvement in Design-Build or alternative delivery methods
* Active participation in professional organizations (ASCE, ITE, ACEC, etc.)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
