Job Details

Delta Air Lines, Inc. has multiple openings for IT Senior Data Engineers in Atlanta, Georgia .

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for administrating and supporting Delta's SAS Grid and SAS Viya environments.
  • Operate as technical lead for operational maintenance, enhancement, installation, and support of SAS environment servers.
  • Oversee, recommend, and implement appropriate solutions and enhancements to ensure platform reliability for users across our environments within defined SLAs.
  • Monitor SAS Management Console to assist in performance tuning of the systems and servers and take corrective actions as necessary to ensure peak operational performance.
  • Manage and track SAS products inventory and license updates for SAS servers and end users.
  • Own and drive patching activities to support OS, Security upgrades, and vulnerabilities.
  • Work with Business Users and Developers to enable access to our BI Tools and Data Platforms and provide support to troubleshoot user challenges.
  • Telecommuting permitted 2-3 days per week.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, and 5 years of experience in software engineering. In the alternative, will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, and 3 years of experience in software engineering.

Must have work experience in:

  • Managing SAS servers, configuring resources, monitoring performance, and ensuring optimal system functionality;
  • Grid computing concepts, including distributed processing, load balancing, and high availability;
  • System architecture principles to design, implement, and maintain SAS Grid environments effectively;
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues in SAS Grid environments, performing regular maintenance tasks, and ensuring system stability;
  • Optimizing system performance, tuning SAS applications, and managing workloads efficiently to enhance overall productivity;
  • Implementing security measures, managing user access, and ensuring data protection within the SAS Grid environment; and
  • Scripting languages including Python, PowerShell, or Shell scripting to automate routine tasks, streamline processes, and improve system efficiency.
