Software Systems Engineer Intermediate
Under minimal direction, provides specialized expertise within multiple systems, software disciplines, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines, and applications implications. Responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support. Assists in the planning and conversion for new hardware/software products. Maintains currency, debugs and configures related software products. Provides operating systems planning and evaluation for performance analysis, capacity planning and hardware upgrades. Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications. Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs. Interfaces with other systems support groups to resolve problems, set standards and improving overall efficiency of the operating system. Prepare product documentation. Interfaces with customers to gather information on system requirements or problems.
Minimum Requirements:
- Eight (8) years of experience in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems/Technology).
- Must have experience in web component applications, XML, including schema definitions & generation (XSD), Relational Databases and serving as a Webmaster.
- Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority.
- Must possess IT-II Non-Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 3 (T3)
Additional Preferred Skills / Additional Relevant Experience / Additional Preferred Education:
- UNIX / Linux applications
- DoD / DLA networks
- eDiscovery software
- Demonstrated advanced technical knowledge in all areas of applications programming to include system design, updates, firewalls, storage, and retrieval methods.
- DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification Category IAT Level II.
- DLA approved Computing Environment certification.
- BS or BA degree in a relevant IT field or five (5) additional years of related experience.
