Note: This is a limited tenure position for two years.

Performs increasingly complex microelectronic engineering functions in the areas of Hardware, Firmware, or Software Engineering which may include theoretical development, conceptualization, design, implementation, simulation, software, assembly, test or analysis. Understands overall goals of project to which assigned and helps execute tasks to support those goals. Able to organize and prioritize effort and resources across multiple project assignments. Initiates design reviews of own work and participates in reviews for others. Analyzes output data, documents and reports results, including generating technical summaries and presentations for internal or sponsor audiences. Performs limited travel.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.

Note: This position requires obtaining and maintaining a Secret clearance and adhering to security requirements as described in the NISPOM.

Applies technical knowledge and experience to solve moderately complex engineering challenges, translating experience from prior assignments using state-of-the-art resources. Can apply experience to new assignments. Obtains materials and selects tools required to complete projects. Through the careful review of reports, patents, literature and other data, maintains an up-to-date awareness of the latest developments in the technical field as it pertains to the current assignments.

Experience in any of the following hardware engineering disciplines is desired:

- Integrated Circuit Design: Experience in various aspects of digital and/or mixed-signal IC design, including simulation, physical layout, and electromagnetic modeling of passive devices and transmission lines. Familiarity with various semiconductor technologies, such as CMOS, SOI, SiGe, and GaN. Must have experience with EDA design, simulation, and modeling software tools such as Cadence Virtuoso and/or Spectre/SpectreRF, Microwave Office, Keysight Advanced Design Systems (ADS), Sonnet, and/or Ansys HFSS.

- Digital design: Experience with Hardware Description Languages such as VHDL or Verilog and familiarity with FPGA programming and state-of-the-art Intel/Altera and/or AMD/Xilinx platforms is preferred.

- Signal/Power Integrity: Experience in various aspects of high frequency SI/PI analysis, including simulation and modeling of transceivers, voltage regulators, transmission lines, and passive structures. Familiarity with various electrical packaging technologies, materials, and structures. Must have experience with EDA simulation and modeling software tools such as HSpice, LTSpice, Keysight Advanced Design Systems (ADS), and/or Ansys HFSS.

- Embedded system design: Experience with firmware development and test, including familiarity with microcontroller application and coding, common wired/wireless protocols and physical serial interfaces (such as SPI, I2C, UART), use of code repository and issues tracking platforms (such as GitLab).
