Description:
The Senior Lead Security Engineer will provide comprehensive cybersecurity engineering services, and be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of a robust security architecture for the FCC's IT enterprise. This role involves integrating security and privacy requirements throughout the Secure System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and ensuring compliance with federal requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide security engineering and subject matter expertise to conduct market research, product evaluation, prototyping, integration, development, deployment, and maintenance for a variety of cybersecurity technologies.
  • Provide direct security engineering support for IT projects and collaborate with the Deputy CIO to integrate security into the enterprise architecture.
  • Define and automate security test methodologies, perform design reviews, and offer expertise for Security Control Assessments.
  • Advise and assist the FCC with cybersecurity architecture activities for all initiatives, following federal requirements, FCC policy, and industry best practices.
  • Perform full-scope administration, management, configuration, patching, upgrades, and optimization of cybersecurity tools, devices, applications, and sensors per FCC timelines.
  • Ensure that mandatory configuration settings are established and implemented on IT products in accordance with federal and organizational policies.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining FCC cybersecurity standards, specifications, and handbooks.


Required Skills/Education/Certifications:

  • Top-Secret (TS) clearance.
  • 7+ years of experience performing cyber infrastructure support activities on Enterprise Cybersecurity Support government contracts.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP) certifications, and Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert.
  • Core competencies in Cybersecurity Engineering practices.
  • Expertise in NIST guidance within SP 800-37 and SP 800-160.
  • Knowledge of secure system development life cycle (SDLC) and experience embedding security and privacy considerations into all phases.
  • Must be able to provide backup support for other key personnel when unavailable to ensure continuity of operations.
