Description
SAIC is hiring a Systems Administrator / Infrastructure Engineer to support the NOAA GFDL program in Princeton, NJ. The System Administrator / Infrastructure Engineer will support a program that includes assistance with IT maintenance, patching, and deployment of various systems in a heterogeneous environment. In a culture that promotes taking ownership, this position is expected to work tickets and trouble issues through from end to end using existing knowledge, research, or other resources at hand to bring resolve.
Position responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Hardware installation/roll-out, research, and Help Desk Tier-1 and -2 technical support
Performing general System Administrator support as needed to support a 24x7 operations requirement. Will be required to support and continuously improve operations and monitoring of tools and processes;
Providing general support that pertains to documented production systems and services. Must be able to diligently troubleshoot and properly seek assistance promptly when additional support is needed for resolution
Exemplary Customer and Client-facing Service experience to VIP users which requires superior oratory and organizational skills
Partnership across internal resources and personnel to present best-case solutions to the client
Work with multiple helpdesk and service issue systems and synchronization of issues across platforms
Ability to work in independent environments under aggressive timelines with varying degrees of complexity and with ability to contribute to new ideas and methods.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or other related scientific or technical discipline.
Four years of experience in computer systems administration
With a Master's Degree (in the fields described in Minimum Education): two years of specialized experience or nine years general experience of which four years is specialized, in lieu of a degree
Experience with Windows, Mac, and Linux OS and demonstrated ability to traverse different Operating Systems to accomplish the same tasks e.g. network configuration, user accounts, system build
Ability to schedule tools such as Backup and Network scanning
Demonstrated documentation ability in a variety of formats e.g. media wiki, google sites, drupal, wordpress
Experience working with vulnerability scans on systems of varying complexity and patch all systems on a rigorous basis
Support the investigation of incidents, installation, modification or replacement of hardware or software components and any configuration change(s) that affects security, as necessary
Experience working independently, balancing and prioritizing work
ship with the Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
