The Role:

We are seeking a self-driven Process Engineer to join our team at the Wentzville Assembly Plant. This is a career-level position suitable for an engineer who can work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision. The ideal candidate will be experienced in evaluating equipment and tooling options, developing efficient process flow improvements, and optimizing resources such as materials and machines to support vehicle production. Work will be performed in a maintenance team supporting General Assembly operations directly within the plant. Creativity, initiative, and independent judgment are expected and encouraged.

This is a second shift role that supports production operations and may require coverage on other shifts, weekends, and holidays for project implementation. The Wentzville plant currently operates 2 out of every 3 Saturdays.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading or supporting SORs (Statement of Requirements) and project management for tools, stations, and specific technologies, typically as part of a larger project.
  • Defining and documenting manufacturing processes.
  • Developing sequences of operations.
  • Applying ergonomic and human factors principles in workstation design.
  • Optimizing material flow for efficiency and safety.
  • Overseeing the design, construction, integration, installation, and launch of new tools and equipment to ensure production of high-quality parts.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives within assigned areas.
  • Providing technical direction and oversight to outside vendors and integrators.
  • Contributing to the development and testing of advanced manufacturing process technologies.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in any Engineering specialty, a related technical field or demonstrated experience in an engineering role.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, preferably in automotive or high-volume production environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and root cause identification skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities across cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to work second shift and support off-shift or weekend projects as needed.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Experience with automotive tooling, robotics, error-proofing systems, or automation.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA, or Siemens NX).
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Project management experience or certifications (e.g., PMP).
