Job Description

Join Lockheed Martin's NDT Engineering team, where you will play a pivotal role in supporting our Fifth Generation Fighters, including the F-35 and F-22, as well as the F-16 and advanced development programs. In this dynamic position, you will leverage your NDT expertise to develop and implement innovative techniques that span the entire life cycle of aircraft-from design and production through to field sustainment and retirement.
Our team is responsible for all Nondestructive Testing, ensuring the structural integrity and airworthiness of our aircraft. We utilize advanced inspection technologies, including Laser Ultrasonics, which is unique to Lockheed Martin and utilized by only a handful of companies worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Utilize your technical expertise in NDT, with certifications in methods such as Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and possibly Infrared Thermography Testing (IRT).
Provide technical support to manufacturing, engineering, programs, field personnel, and suppliers throughout the NDT process.
Design, develop, and implement NDT methodologies, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Conduct evaluations, including failure analysis, methods analysis, and inspections.
Prepare, revise, and review NDT material/process specifications and technique sheets, evaluating supplier techniques and procedures.
Design and assess inspection reference standards and audit NDT inspection facilities.
Validate non-destructive callouts on engineering drawings.
Develop training materials and instruct NDT inspectors in accordance with industry standards and company requirements.
Maintain and expand your certifications, including the ability to certify to ASNT Level III in multiple methods.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience, along with current NDE Level 3 certifications.
Current Level II or higher certifications in at least three methods per NAS-410 or equivalent.
Ability to obtain ASNT Level III certifications in at least three methods within 18 months, with one certification in UT or ET.
Minimum of 5 years of professional NDT experience.
Experience with automated inspection systems and electronic drawing systems.
Ability to travel on short notice.

Desired skills

ASNT Level III certification in three disciplines.
Level II certification in four methods.
Familiarity with Computed Radiography (CR) or Digital Radiography (DR).
Experience performing supplier NDT audits and approving techniques and equipment.
Background in working with NDT processes in MRO&U facilities.
Experience in a unionized environment.
Prior experience in procuring NDI equipment.
Experience conducting Level II training.
Experiencing conducting Probability of Detection (POD) studies for NDT methods/techniques
Experience with Computed Tomography (CT) scanning
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $98,300 - $170,315.
