The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWT s preferred partners. The partner will provide full compensation and benefit information prior to employment with the partner.

Rate/Salary: A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $75.00 to $85.00 hourly on W2 hourly. Actual pay will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs, and will be set by your employer. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in base pay.
Job Title: Resident Engineer
Location: Basking Ridge, NJ- 2 days a week onsite for 2025, and 3 days onsite a week for 2026
Contract: Until end of 2025 with possibility to go into 2026
Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Resident Engineer to design, test, and implement product solutions integrated into public and private Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) environments. The ideal candidate will develop and automate custom software solutions, optimize MEC resource utilization, and support the OpenShift ecosystem. They should be a quick thinker, creatively driven, and able to troubleshoot and implement resilient systems efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Implementation:
- Develop product solutions for both public and private MEC environments.
- Architect designs focusing on redundancy, resource optimization, and integration with OpenShift.
- Create automated software solutions for MEC configuration deployments, system updates, and monitoring.
Automation and Optimization:
- Automate processes to ensure efficient configuration, system updates, and proactive monitoring.
- Implement health monitoring (active and passive) and provide informed troubleshooting recommendations based on system analysis.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with internal teams to implement robust MEC solutions.
- Engage in system health monitoring, software update analysis, and provide actionable insights for system improvements.
Documentation:
- Provide detailed documentation on projects and work performed in the lab
- Create, update and maintain scripts and configs to an on-prem git repository.
- Update and maintain IPAM(ie netbox) application with all deployed configurations.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Versatile Problem Solver: Ability to think on the fly, adapt to various technical challenges, and be resourceful across multiple domains.
- Linux Proficiency: Strong Linux administration and networking skills
- Cloud and Virtualization: Expertise in cloud technologies and virtualization; familiarity with Red Hat, OpenShift, OpenStack, and Kubernetes. Experience with VMware is a plus.
- Experience in building and deploying on-prem environments such as Kubernates, docker/container or kvm(ie Proxmox XCP-NG, etc).
- Networking Knowledge: Understanding of network infrastructures and their optimization. Configuring and troubleshooting Routers and Switches.
- Data Science & AI: Experience or hands-on exposure to data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence is a plus
- Data Analytics: Ability to analyze and leverage data to optimize processes.
- Physical Engagement: Open to participating in datacenter related physical activities as required by the team and project tasks.
