Job Summary:
This Network Engineer will be responsible for testing new roadmapped CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) platforms, specifically focusing on DOCSIS and next-generation connectivity technologies. This includes DOCSIS modems, residential gateways, and other customer-facing hardware, along with integrated Wi-Fi solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DOCSIS, broadband network infrastructure, and CPE testing and optimization. This role requires expertise in research, design, and rigorous testing of cutting-edge CPE products.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and test new roadmapped CPE platforms, including DOCSIS 4.0/3.1 modems, integrated residential gateways, and multi-gigabit solutions.
- Conduct research and development on DOCSIS technologies, focusing on aspects like low-latency DOCSIS (LLD), OFDM/OFDMA channel utilization, and network performance optimization for CPE devices.
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans for CPE hardware and firmware, ensuring stability, performance, and compliance with industry standards.
- Optimize CPE functionality and network policies to enhance overall broadband experience, including Wi-Fi integration within these devices.
- Architect and deploy configurations for CPE devices, including routing, security, and advanced networking features like MAP-T.
- Evaluate and integrate cellular backup solutions (5G/LTE) with CPE products to ensure robust and resilient home connectivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the full product lifecycle from design to deployment of new CPE solutions.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of DOCSIS standards (e.g., DOCSIS 3.1, DOCSIS 4.0) and their practical implementation in CPE.
- Experience with broadband network architectures and the role of CPE within these environments.
- Proficiency in testing and validation of network equipment, specifically customer premises equipment (CPE).
- Experience with network optimization techniques relevant to residential broadband.
- Familiarity with MAP-T functionality in a CPE context.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with low-latency DOCSIS (LLD) initiatives and L4S (Low Latency Low Loss Scalable Throughput) implementations.
- Understanding of Wi-Fi technologies as they integrate with CPE (e.g., Wi-Fi 6E/7 within residential gateways).
- Experience with 5G/LTE technologies and their application in CPE backup solutions.
