Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Engineer to join our team in Etna, Ohio. This role is critical to maintaining the operational integrity, security, and efficiency of our data center environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data center operations, strong technical expertise, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-critical setting.

Pay rate: $30-$40/hr

Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain data center systems including servers, storage, networking, and cabling.
  • Monitoring & Optimization: Use DCIM and monitoring tools to track KPIs such as uptime, PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness), and thermal health; proactively address performance issues.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine inspections, firmware updates, and predictive maintenance to prevent downtime.
  • Oversee daily operations of the data center to ensure optimal performance, uptime, and reliability.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of servers, storage systems, and network devices.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions proactively.
  • Manage and execute data center projects, including equipment installations, upgrades, and decommissions.
  • Ensure compliance with security, safety, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to support infrastructure needs and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including equipment inventory, maintenance logs, and operational reports.
  • Provide on-call support and respond to emergencies as required.


Experience Requirements:
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years in data center operations or a related technical field.
  • In-depth knowledge of SiteScan and other datacenter operations tools
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with server and store hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of power and cooling systems, hot/cold aisle containment, and redundancy planning.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and hardware (switches, routers).
  • Proficiency with monitoring and management tools for data center operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; capable of working independently and in a team.
  • Availability for on-call and occasional weekend work.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+ or equivalent.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of data center best practices and industry standards (TIA-942, ASHRAE).
  • Nice to have: Background in retail IT environments.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • On-site in Etna, OH five days a week
  • Comfortable working in controlled environments with varying temperatures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
  • Occasional work in confined spaces and elevated areas.
  • Must adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE when required.
