Description

Engineer, develop, and synthesize advanced battery cell technology for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). Select proper battery cell chemistry including Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP), Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC), and Lithium Nickel Cobalt Manganese Aluminum Oxide (NCMA) for cathode based on energy, power, and vehicle range requirements, and graphite and silicon for anode based on energy and power requirements. Select appropriate cell format including pouch, prismatic, and cylindrical for different Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) based on vehicle size, mass, and structure design. Formulate and adjust chemical formulas to augment and improve fast charging capability of battery cells based on Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) requirements. Apply optimization techniques including Design of Experiments (DOE) and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) to engineer and develop low cost, optimized battery cell performance, including calculation of graphite (anode), NMC (cathode), and related additive materials loading in cells, and battery cell cycling, to improve battery safety and electrochemical properties.

Additional Description

Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering, or related. Twelve months' experience as Engineer, Researcher, Graduate Research Assistant, or related. Must also have experience with: engineering and developing battery cell performance, including calculation of graphite anode, and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC) cathodes, and related additive materials loading in cells.
