AS400 Consultant - (IBM iSeries OS/400, i5/OS, DB2)

Role: AS400 Consultant.
This is a remote role.

We are seeking a highly skilled AS400 Consultant to provide technical expertise and support for our AS400 systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing our AS400/iSeries environment to ensure system stability and performance. This role requires hands-on experience in AS400/iSeries platforms, as well as the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to support business operations.

Responsibilities
o Provide daily operational support for AS400 systems, ensuring uptime and optimal performance.
o Perform routine system monitoring, backups, and patching to maintain system integrity.
o Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the AS400 platform, including hardware and software issues.
o Support and enhance AS400 -based business applications (e.g., ERP systems, custom applications).
o Assist with system configuration and application setups to align with business processes.
o Plan, schedule, and implement system upgrades and patches to ensure the system is running on the latest software versions.
o Work closely with other IT teams to test and implement new features and functionality.
o Monitor system performance and make recommendations for optimization.
o Perform capacity planning to ensure adequate resources for growing business needs.
o Provide training and guidance to end users on AS400 systems and applications.
o Serve as a point of contact for end-user troubleshooting and queries.
o Create and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
o Generate regular status reports on system performance, issues, and resolutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
o Proven experience with AS400 system administration and support.
o Strong knowledge of IBM iSeries OS/400, i5/OS, DB2, and related tools.
o Familiarity with RPG, CL programming, and SQL on the AS400 platform.
o Experience with system backups, disaster recovery, and performance tuning for AS400 systems.
o Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues.
o Experience with application support, particularly in ERP or other business applications running on AS400.
o Knowledge of security and user management within the AS400 environment.
o Good communication skills to interact with both technical teams and end-users.

Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications
o Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
o Experience with modern AS400/iSeries management tools, such as IBM Navigator for i and Performance Tools for i.
o Certifications in IBM iSeries or related technologies are a plus.
o Experience with ITIL processes or other IT service management frameworks.
o Experience with modernizing AS400/iSeries applications and integrating with newer technologies (e.g., cloud, web services, etc.).
o Knowledge of additional platforms and technologies (e.g., SAP, Oracle, SQL Server) is a plus.
