Position Summary
The Process Safety Engineer will provide process safety expertise to safely conduct chemical operations and identify and control hazards of (1) the materials handled at the facility, (2) the chemical processes operated, and (3) the physical equipment utilized. By leading design reviews for new and existing processes, the process safety engineer will help ensure the safe design and on-going operation of the facility, reducing the risk of accidents, injuries, and illnesses to employ and customers.
Responsibilities
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement and maintain process safety management program in accordance with OSHA regulations and chemical industry best practices.
Consult with team on equipment for reaction chemistry, Flammable material mixing operations, over pressure protection, Safety instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Instrumented Level (SIL), electrical classification for flammable operations and combustible dust.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams during the design and modification processes to ensure safety considerations are integrated from the outset.
Actively participate in PSSR, MOC, RCA and investigator methodologies as leader, coordinator, and/or participant
Lead investigations of safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions while maintaining accurate records to prevent recurrence.
Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures, ensuring that all employees are trained and prepared for potential emergencies.
Function as the lead for Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) to identify potential safety hazards.
Design and implement Process Safety Improvements.
Maintain accurate records of safety assessments, incident investigations, and training activities, and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
Stays current with industry trends and regulatory requirements
Drive Sustainability in support of Parker Corporate initiatives
Qualifications
WORK EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
Five years industrial experience in an EHS function or Process Safety function in a chemical manufacturing environment
PREFERRED
Ten years industrial experience as an EHS or Process Safety professional
EDUCATION
REQUIRED
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field
PREFERRED
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering along with Safety Management
CERTIFICATIONS
PREFERRED
40-Hour Hazardous Material Technician (HAZMAT) certified
40-Hour Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) certified
Process Safety Management Certified
Process Safety Management Auditor certified
