Accountant / Auditor

ASSYST is seeking an Accountant / Auditor to support the accounting/auditing work for our client in Rockville, Maryland.

Job Type: Contract (Corp to Corp/C2C or 1099)
Job Location: Rockville, Maryland (Hybrid - Onsite only when required)

Responsibilities:

• Preparing analyses of reports and making recommendations regarding the analyses.
• Performing analysis of assigned funds/sub-funds.
• Performing complex reconciliations of various Oracle General ledger accounts.
• Preparing supporting work papers for adjusting journal entries.
• Will be working side-by-side with the staff to facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Will be reporting directly to the Treasury Accounting Supervisor.

Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor s degree in accounting or related field is preferred, but not required.
• The candidate must understand generally accepted accounting principles for governmental accounting, including having a thorough knowledge and understanding of GASB and/or FASB standards and statements.
• Must be proficient in using Oracle ERP accounting systems, Excel, and other current technology.
• Knowledge of MUNIS, Crystal Reports, and BI tools is strongly preferred.
