Confluent Cloud Kafka Developer

Type: 6M Contract

Summary: Client is seeking a seasoned Confluent Cloud Kafka Developer to lead the design and implementation of real-time data streaming solutions. This role focuses on building scalable, high-performance pipelines using Apache Kafka on Confluent Cloud, and integrating streaming architectures with platforms like AWS and Snowflake. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in distributed systems, Python, Terraform, and real-time integrations, with a passion for optimizing event-driven architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage real-time streaming data pipelines using Confluent Kafka and Apache Flink.
• Integrate Kafka with data platforms including AWS and Snowflake.
• Ensure high data quality, reliability, and performance across streaming solutions.
• Use Terraform for infrastructure automation and cloud deployments.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Kafka clusters and related infrastructure.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, data science, and engineering teams.
• Provide support and guidance on Kafka best practices and issue resolution.
• Stay current with Kafka ecosystem advancements and recommend improvements.

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on Apache Kafka and distributed systems.
• 2+ years of hands-on Python experience for Kafka development.
• Expertise with Confluent Kafka, including Schema Registry.
• Solid knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda).
• Familiarity with ETL, data integration, and streaming pipeline orchestration.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience optimizing Kafka-based pipelines.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years working with Confluent Cloud.
• Experience with Apache Flink, Kafka Connect, and ksqlDB.
• Working knowledge of Snowflake and cloud-based analytics pipelines.
• Proficiency in Java for scalable, event-driven app development.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps toolchains.
• Relevant certifications (AWS, Apache Kafka, Confluent) are a plus.
