Tapbacks. Stickers. Lasers. Share your name and photo. Pin your favorite people. The Messages team is looking for a software engineer passionate about personal communication. You'll be part of the team of engineers focused on the core user interactions in the Messages app on iOS and macOS, especially over iMessage. A signature product of this team is the transcript and its many expressive features like rich media and links, tapbacks, replies, mentions, bubble scroll dynamics, and much more. You'll use the right tool for the job, from Objective-C to Swift, UIKit and even SwiftUI to build rich interactions and custom animations from the ground up. You may even play a large role in adopting and defining new system APIs before they're publicly announced. Successful engineers will be prepared to dive all the way to the local database and protocol layers, working with engineers across teams to deliver complex features on time. Come be part of the team helping our customers connect to their most important people in delightful, expressive ways.

Description Every day, millions of people connect via Messages, expressing and sharing with the people who matter most to them in many different ways. We are constantly adding new communication tools for iMessage, all with end-to-end encryption for both individual and group conversations. As an engineer on the Messages Experience team, you will focus on the core user interactions in the Messages app, including the exciting canvas that is the transcript. You'll work to deliver smooth, custom animations and interactions, and help drive responsive performance for scrolling, app launch, and transcript load. SMS remains a key technology for communicating with users not on iMessage. You'll work with cross-functional partners to continue to make Messages a powerful, easy-to-use texting app that plays a critical role for many users around the world. This is a cross-functional position. As a member of the Messages team, you'll work with the design team and other partners to define new features, coordinate engineering plans, prioritize and triage bugs, and deliver on one of the most used messaging apps in the world. We believe privacy is a fundamental human right, and you'll incorporate this belief into everything we build. Join us and bring expressivity, joy, and security to conversations around the world.
