Our civil engineering teams focus on site and infrastructure design, currently leading projects such as the 16th Street Mall redesign in Denver. Lastly, our investigative engineers are pivotal in supporting ongoing projects by planning and implementing repairs, renovations, and improvements for buildings and sites. With nine office locations and a staff of 370, Martin/Martin engineers regularly perform work across the United States and internationally.

This position conducts engineering design work requiring sound judgment in evaluation, selection, and implementation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devise new approaches to problems encountered. Design projects with minimal supervision. Develop project management skills and learn to represent the company in limited project meetings. Develop communication skills required to manage the flow of project information and work efficiently. Provide quality control by checking calculations and documents. Meet project deadlines and design budgets. Design small to medium size projects or portions of large projects. Coordinate, organize, and check portions of projects they are responsible for. Write reports and serve as mentor and resource for engineer in training (EIT) regarding design techniques, software, and codes. Adhere to project Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plans and assist in monitoring design budgets, monitoring project schedules, and communicating with clients. Master jurisdictional and material specific codes and their application. Manage own work and that of technical and support staff. Conduct field investigations and use specialized equipment. Develop rapport with reviewing agencies. Prepare estimates of probable construction costs. Use building information modeling (BIM) software for modeling, coordination, and detailing. Supervise and review work of BIM technicians. Travel required up to 20% of the time to attend out of state conferences as well as to visit company branch offices. Telecommuting may be permitted up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Master's degree or U.S. equivalent in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, plus 2 years of professional experience as a Structural Engineer-in-Training or any occupation/position/job title involving performing structural engineering work for the building industry.

Must also have experience in the following: 2 years of professional experience working with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software for structural modeling, coordination, and detailing, and supervising and reviewing BIM technicians' work; 2 years of professional experience using engineering software required for structural analysis and design including SAP2000 and RAM Structural System for structural analysis and design and material design software including Quick Masonry, S-Concrete, and WoodWorks; 2 years of professional experience applying building codes and material-specific codes; 2 years of professional experience coordinating project details across plans, specifications, and notes, and adhering to project-specific Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) plans; 2 years of professional experience conducting construction site structural observations and reporting; 2 years of professional experience designing, detailing, and modeling small to medium-sized structural projects within set time and budget constraints, ensuring structural integrity; and 1 year of professional experience mentoring and providing guidance to Engineer-in-Training (EIT) staff on design techniques, software tools, and code applications.
