Engineering Manager (Power Systems)


We are seeking an Engineering Manager (Power Systems) to guide our engineering group in adhering to efficient, standard, and consistent design practices for hardware and software, in line with industry standards. This role involves assisting the team in utilizing commercially viable hardware, including PLCs, HMIs, PCs, embedded PCs, client/servers, drives/VFDs, sensors, actuators, and various software and development environments. The goal is to design robust industrial control systems for diverse applications across industries such as metals manufacturing, mining, material handling, pulp and paper, marine, and oil and gas.

Responsibilities:



  • Apply knowledge of power systems to design drive controls.
  • Serve as an expert in AC/DC Drive Control Architecture.
  • Lead system design for the automation of plants and machinery.
  • Oversee PLC, HMI, and other industrial-equipment programming.
  • Manage schematic and layout design for electrical and electronic control systems, including VFDs/DC Drives, utilizing AutoCAD Electrical and Mechanical; familiarity with EPLAN is a plus.
  • Guide simulation, testing, and documentation processes.
  • Perform estimation for Systems Project RFQs and directly interface with sales and customers for RFQ discussions.
  • Expect 10%-20% travel to client sites.

qualifications:

Experience:



  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the design and implementation of industrial control systems using PLCs, HMIs, and Drives (VFDs and DC Drives) is required.
  • Possess 7 years of experience programming PLCs, HMIs, and related equipment for Industrial Control Systems.
  • Include a minimum of 3 years of direct work experience with schematics and panel layouts.
  • Knowledge of C#, VB, .NET, OPC, and SQL is considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with NEC / NFPA70 / UL 508 Standards is preferred.
  • Direct experience with the implementation of systems utilizing EtherNet/IP, EtherNet TCP/IP, DeviceNET, ProfiNET, and Modbus TCP/IP is preferred.
  • Experience with Rockwell, GE, Siemens, and Schneider PLC Platforms is highly valued.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering is required, and a PE License is a plus.
