OVERVIEW:
ALTA IT Service LLC is seeking a skilled Payroll Tester (Level 2) to support the implementation and testing of Oracle Cloud Payroll, Time & Labor, and Absence Management modules. This hybrid role requires occasional on-site work at locations in Hyattsville, Washington, DC, and Alexandria, VA. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in payroll systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and business teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute functional testing for Oracle Cloud Payroll, Time & Labor, and Absence Management modules.
  • Create test scripts and data for configuration, interface, and report validation.
  • Resolve payroll, time, and leave errors during testing phases.
  • Analyze interface issues and perform root cause analysis on data discrepancies.
  • Develop and execute complex ad-hoc queries using Oracle OTBI.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure integration points function correctly.
  • Support UAT and end-user training sessions.
  • Document business processes, configurations, and system modifications.
  • Evaluate and test new or modified software programs for compliance with user requirements.
  • Recommend improvements and corrections based on testing outcomes.
  • Conduct compatibility tests and monitor systems during program testing.
  • Prepare detailed specifications and documentation for application software packages.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience testing payroll, timekeeping, and absence modules.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience supporting Payroll modules.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll principles, calculations, tax regulations, and unionized environments.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud applications (HCM, Financials, Procurement).
  • Proficiency in SQL and Oracle OTBI for data validation and reporting.
  • Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience in all phases of Application Life Cycle Management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Payroll and Kronos Timekeeping.
  • Certifications in Software Testing (e.g., ISTQB).
  • Experience with automated testing tools and cloud-based applications.
  • Prior experience in the public sector or large government agencies.
  • Knowledge of transit business processes and legacy systems.
