Job Title: Senior Business Analyst Grants Management System
Duration: Lansing, MI (Hybrid)
Work Duration: 12+ Months
Job Overview:
Client is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support and enhance its Grants Management System, which oversees over 100 grant applications and facilitates the distribution of more than $2 billion in payments to educational entities across the state.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams. This position requires strong leadership skills, including the ability to manage other business analysts, lead requirement-gathering sessions, and effectively communicate project goals and changes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate requirement gathering sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
- Analyze and document business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications.
- Maintain and manage a backlog of work items in Azure DevOps.
- Track and report on progress of sprints, change requests, and testing deliverables.
- Operate in a hybrid Agile/Waterfall development environment and support change management processes.
- Ensure adherence to departmental change management policies and procedures.
- Serve as a primary liaison between the technical team and business product owners.
- Represent the project team during audits and serve as point-of-contact for State of Michigan auditors.
- Oversee documentation and knowledge base using SharePoint.
- Produce status reports, timelines, and resource demand projections for management.
- Lead, mentor, and delegate tasks to a team of business analysts.
- Continuously identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Business Analyst in software development or enterprise systems.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, including Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience managing requirements, test plans, and change requests.
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps, including backlog management and sprint tracking.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Ability to independently lead meetings and facilitate discussions between cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with grant management systems or state/federal government projects is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in public sector environments.
- Familiarity with auditing practices and compliance documentation.
- PMP, CBAP, or Agile certification is a plus.
